"Do Business Your Way" - Dimension Data and Cisco Launch National Unified Communications Roadshow

Australia’s leading unified communications experts to transform concept to reality for Australian organisations

Dimension Data today announced it will hold a national breakfast seminar series on unified communications together with Cisco® from July 24 to August 2 to bring more clarity and realism to IT executives’ discussions and planning around unified communications.

“This roadshow is aimed at transforming unified communications from concept to reality,” said Dimension Data’s chief technology officer Gerard Florian.

“Companies are still considering unified communications in the abstract, and there is a definite gap to overcome when they try to implement some of these solutions in their business today. This seminar is designed to bridge this gap by detailing real-life case studies, demonstrating the technologies involved and providing advice on the ways in which organisations can prepare their infrastructure to successfully implement UC solutions.”

A unified communications solution integrates a range of communication channels in an enterprise, allowing colleagues, partners and customers to collaborate more effectively. It has the potential to transform the way business is conducted by enabling better access and responsiveness to people and information, regardless of their location or situation.

Jeff Sheard, Cisco Australia and New Zealand director of Channels, said; “This roadshow is timely for the unified communications market in Australia and New Zealand. It will help businesses to understand how to take advantage of the significant productivity and efficiency benefits available from moving to an IP platform for their unified communications. We believe that the organisations which use the network as the platform for their business growth will move away from their competition.”

The seminar series, with the title “Do Business Your Way”, is running in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide and Canberra from 8.00m to 10.30am and features speakers from Dimension Data and Cisco. The events will provide end users with a reality-check on what steps businesses need to take to ensure their network and security infrastructure is ready for unified communications.

Each seminar will help IT professionals to understand the fundamentals of UC – what it actually is, the technology behind it, its significant impact on business productivity, and the opportunities it presents to innovate in the way businesses collaborate. It will also cover important practical considerations for UC-readiness such as WAN, LAN and wireless infrastructure, security, identity management, wireless and quality of service (QoS).

Specifically, each seminar will provide the following:

  • A clear definition and explanation of ‘What is UC.’
  • Real-world case studies on UC.
  • A live technical demonstration of UC.
  • A roadmap to prepare organisations’ infrastructure for UC.

Dimension Data’s UC experts will also unveil new Australian and global sponsored research conducted with Datamonitor on the business motivations, adoption and spending trends, key technology challenges and growth markets for unified communications.
