The recent Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards celebrated excellence in the broadcasting industry in the areas of technology, digitalisation and engineering. At this year’s awards the winner of the Innovation Award for New Multi-channel Playout System – Indonesia went to Telkom Indonesia powered by Magna Systems & Engineering.

Magna Systems & Engineering group CEO, Matthew Clemesha, said, “It is an honour and a privilege to win this award. We are delighted that Magna and our clients, such as Telkom Indonesia and the cutting-edge work we do together can be recognised by our peers in this way.”

The broadcasting industry is undergoing a significant transformation as traditional television and radio coexist with digital streaming services, social media, and mobile content consumption. On top of this, broadcasters also have to consider evolving technologies and shifting consumer preferences. Whilst these changes present a myriad of challenges, they also offer numerous opportunities for growth and innovation.

The rise of over-the-top (OTT) platforms, virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI) is changing the way consumers interact with media. Broadcasters have to continue innovating and adapting to leverage new technologies and remain competitive.

Telkom Indonesia is an Indonesian multinational telecommunications conglomerate with major businesses in broadcasting, multimedia, telephony, internet and data communications. After privatisation in 1995, Telkom Indonesia became the nation's largest telecommunication service provider by subscribers. As part of their continued expansion Magna Systems helped design and install a multi-channel playout system as part of a new master control room build.  The new solution Magna installed now gives Telkom Indonesia DVE, advanced graphics, advanced audio processing and overall a next generation and state of the art playout system. As a result, they now have the features and capability to enhance their channel presentation and include MAM and archiving into a streamlined efficient workflow.

The new solution supplied by Magna also helps Telkom Indonesia control all aspects of their workflow from traffic, to creating assets for TVCs, through planning, the creation of a channel playlist and final playout.

Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards, for its inaugural year, held its awards presentation at Crowne Plaza Changi Airport, Singapore during the recent Broadcast Asia 2023 show. The awards programme aims to recognise companies that were able to embrace these challenges as opportunities to deliver compelling experiences across multiple platforms.
