New XenApp 5 release delivers powerful cost-saving enhancements
FYI
– Citrix Systems, the global leader in application delivery infrastructure,
today announced new enhancements to its flagship product XenApp™ that will deliver
powerful new cost savings and a better user experience.
The full release can be found here: http://www.citrix.com/English/NE/news/news.asp?newsID=1687625
New
enhancements include:
- XenServer as core feature of XenApp
XenServer will now be
available as a core feature of all editions of XenApp, enabling customers to
virtualise XenApp server workloads.
- Standardised
XenApp server image
Customers can now
manage a single, standardised XenApp server image centrally and dynamically
provision to hundreds of XenApp servers across a large, distributed data centre
in minutes.
- New
user profile management capabilities
Customers can maintain
and consolidate a user’s profile, meaning users will have a faster, seamless
log-on experience.
- Local
application virtualisation
Previously only
available on Enterprise and Platinum editions of XenApp, customers can stream
centrally-managed applications to an end-user’s PC or laptop and run them
locally in a virtualised environment, even when the user is disconnected from
the network. This means that XenApp customers no longer need to purchase
separate licenses to enable offline access for mobile laptop users.
- New
management toolset
This eliminates the
need for third-party benchmarking software and ensures organisations are using
server capacity in the most efficient way.
These
new features will be available on March 16, 2009.
