Utilities empowered to reduce operational costs with Gentrack’s latest billing and CRM solution

Announcement posted by Talgentra 18 Mar 2009

Melbourne, March 18, 2009. Gentrack today announced the release of its latest utility billing and CRM solution designed to lower operating costs for energy retailers and lines companies.

Gentrack Velocity 4 is the latest version of the ‘best of breed’ suite of billing and CRM solutions developed, implemented and supported by Melbourne-based software house Gentrack Pty Ltd. In a substantial two-year development, Gentrack has architected an SOA compliant software solution with integrated workflow management tools, a new web browser interface and utility specific CRM capabilities for transforming the customer experience – all of which combine to reduce costs to serve and streamline business operations.

James Docking, Gentrack CEO commented: “The latest version of Gentrack Velocity comes at a time when our business is doing extremely well despite the state of the economy. We have set up a new office in London, and recently employed new programmers and business development resources to support our growth and continuing product R&D.  It has taken two years to put the finishing touches to this version of Gentrack Velocity. It marks a leap forward for the product and our business as we look to give our [utility] customers the tools needed to reduce operational costs while balancing the need for responsible investment in IT infrastructure.”

Gentrack Velocity also boasts a set of innovative tools for business process development. ‘Wizards’ empower utility companies to build and configure their own business processes, providing the flexibility to adapt to regulatory and business changes as and when required. These tools are designed to streamline utility workflows, effectively reducing unnecessary and otherwise costly manual process intervention.

Docking added: “There are significant cost savings associated with streamlining business processes using Gentrack Velocity. Giving utilities the opportunity to take control of the tools to achieve a tighter meter-to-cash revenue process is welcomed by our customers. When they take that control, our team of industry experts is available to provide value added professional services outside of software coding and development. In essence, we can extend the range of professional services currently offered to our customers.”

The latest version of Gentrack Velocity was launched at the Gentrack customer conference, attended by over 60 representatives from the utility industry.  Over two days, utilities reviewed the latest products from Gentrack, discussed industry ‘state of play’ and hot topics such as smart metering and demand response, and heard case studies from various energy utilities such as Red Energy and Genesis Energy.

“We won’t be burying our heads in the sand during the current business climate,” said Docking.
“We have delivered quality software products and services for over 25 years and will continue to prosper as an innovator of billing and CRM solutions for utilities worldwide. Our business model works because it is built on long term principles rather than short term gains.”
