GoBook Proves its Ruggedness

The General Dynamics Itronix GoBook has proven it's ruggedness in one of the world's most dangerous yacht races, the Rolex Sydney to Hobart.
Navigator Frank Walker used a GoBook for tactical navigation onboard Sailors with disABILITIES in the 2008 race. Having raced to Hobart six times previously, Mr Walker is well aware of the toll sailing can have on onboard computers.
"On many boats the navigation instruments are highly vulnerable to a dousingof water, and during open sea racing I've known conventional notebooks to malfunction from the impact when the boat launches off a wave," said Mr Walker.
GoBookNotebooks are designed to operate in the most extreme conditions, are waterproof and shock-proof, and feature an IntelCore2 Duo processor and touch-screen.

"The GoBook's internet connection was quick and had great coverage. It was almost too good, proven when we were woken 50 miles offshore to the online phone ringing at 2am.
"When I got back to Sydney I noticed a thin film of salt over the GoBook so I rinsed it under a water spray and then dried it - something you could never do with a regular laptop," said Mr Walker.
The rugged qualities of Mr Walker's GoBook have been enhanced in the latest Itronix model, the GD8000, just launched in Australia by AvanTec.
