As transformation and transition projects commence, Datacom’s ongoing charter is to provide complete managed services including Services Management, support for Server, Network, Database and Desktop products and a full service desk. The full service ‘first generation’ support contract, valued at $2.5+ million AUD per annum, is one of the first contracts of this kind awarded to an IT services firm outside of the LatrobeValley.

Loy Yang Power Chief Executive Ian Nethercote said Datacom was awarded the contract after an extensive tender evaluation process.

"Datacom rated highly in all service requirements and we look forward to their input in delivering quality IT support for our operations," Mr Nethercote said.

Datacom’s relationship with Loy Yang Power combines managed services with 9 separate transformation and transition projects including System Center Configuration Managerimplementation, Active Directory upgrade, Virtual Infrastructure roll out, development of a Managed Operating Environment, Backup redesign and Server Room remediation.

Loy Yang Power owns and operates the 2,200 megawatt Loy Yang power station and the adjacent Loy Yang coal mine.
