Announcement posted by SCO Group 26 Feb 2003
Demonstrating its continued commitment to partners, SCO announces the availability of a new education program, updated Linux, UnixWare and OpenServer courseware, and a new UnitedLinux certification program
The SCO(r) Group (SCO)(Nasdaq: SCOX), a leading provider of Linux and UNIX business software solutions, has announced the launch of its new education programs, including the SCO Authorised Education Partner program (a new program combining SCO's authorised training centre and instructor programs), new and updated SCO Linux, SCO UnixWare and SCO OpenServer courseware, and a new UnitedLinux certification program.
New SCO Authorised Education Partner (AEP) program
The SCO AEP program is designed to support SCO partners and to provide UNIX and Linux course offerings to IT organisations and customers. As Linux and UNIX continue their move toward dominance in many computer fields, the demand for quality training is rapidly increasing. The SCO AEPs fill this demand with the highest quality and most complete training programs on Linux and UNIX available today.
With the formation of the AEP program, SCO education partners are now part of the TeamSCO partner program and are eligible for special partner benefits, collaboration with SCO and discounts. In addition, SCO courseware is no longer restricted to SCO education partners - now anyone can purchase SCO education products. However, SCO education partners and other TeamSCO partners receive special pricing discounts.
"The new SCO Authorised Education Partner program delivers updated courseware and more flexible options, underscoring our commitment to our channel and education partners," said Kieran O'Shaughnessy, SCO's regional general manager for Australia and New Zealand. "By incorporating the AEP program into TeamSCO, our education partners now have access to the benefits previously available only to solution providers. Furthermore, our solution providers can now expand their IT offerings by providing training and certification."
SCO Updated Courseware
The SCO AEP program contains updated education courseware reflecting the most recent versions of SCO's operating systems: UnixWare 7.1.3, OpenServer 5.0.7 and SCO Linux 4.0, Powered by UnitedLinux. This updated courseware gives students comprehensive training on topics such as basic system administration, network infrastructure and services, enterprise administration and security.
To meet the many and varied needs of SCO's partners and customers, SCO provides the updated courseware in a variety of formats. Course manuals and instructor-led training are available through the SCO AEPs. Fifteen days of comprehensive courseware is available for each operating system. SCO eLearning provides individuals and organisations access to high quality, cost effective training over the Internet seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day - anytime, anywhere. The SCO Linux materials are available as self-paced Learning Units that can be purchased one topic at a time or used by partners in business seminars.
New and Enhanced Linux and UNIX Product Certification
The SCO AEP program will feature a new UnitedLinux certification - UnitedLinux Certified Expert - and updated SCO UnixWare and SCO OpenServer certification tests - CSA, ACE and Master ACE. SCO's industry-standard certifications offer a way for IT professionals to validate their expertise with UnitedLinux and SCO product solutions and tools.
