Press Release

AvanTEC announce Australian launch of the all new Algiz 7 Rugged Tablet PC from Handheld Europe

17 February 2010
. Rugged PC specialist Handheld Europe has launched its breakthrough new Algiz 7 tablet PC, which provides desktop-like computing power in an ultra-portable form and is tough enough to withstand the harshest working conditions.

The
ultra-rugged 7-inch widescreen tablet with Gobi™ 2000 and MaxView™ technology features a speedy Intel Atom 1.6GHz processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM and a solid state 64GB hard drive. It runs Microsoft’s latest Windows 7 Professional operating system for fully fledged application functionality.

Standard connectivity includes Bluetooth and 802.11 WLAN. Also standard is GPS navigation functionality and a 2-megapixel digital camera with LED light.

Dual 2400mAh battery packs can be changed, or hot-swapped, without having to shut down.

High-speed data transmission capabilities are available via optional Gobi™ 2000 technology, which allows Algiz 7 users to work on their choice of wireless frequency anywhere in the world.

Another breakthrough feature is Handheld’s unique MaxView™ screen technology, which sets the market benchmark for outdoor screen visibility. General Manager of AvanTEC – Handheld’s Oceania Region distributor – Dave Cawsey said proprietary MaxView™ technology allowed the tablet to be easily read even in direct sunlight.

Mr Cawsey also said the Algiz 7 offered exceptional value, given its extensive standard functionality. “A truly vast amount of standard capability is packed into the Algiz 7’s modest seven inch/one kilogram form. Also remarkable is the price at which Handheld has done it. Until now, similar offerings cost thousands of dollars more. We’re confident we’ve hit a pricing sweet spot that rugged mobile users will appreciate and competitors can’t come near.”

Extremely rugged, the Algiz 7 is IP65-rated and meets stringent MIL-STD-810G military standards for withstanding humidity, vibration, dust and extreme temperatures. It can withstand drops from 1.2 metres and is highly water-resistant – including having waterproof USB, LAN and RS232 ports – meaning you can literally rinse it off after a day in the field.

The Handheld
Algiz 7 is priced from $3150 (excl. GST and shipping).
