Join some of Australia’s best Hiphop artists at Freestyle – Masters of Hiphop, National Finals

One of Australia’s biggest Hiphop events has a new home at Shed 4, Docklands, Melbourne. As Victoria’s concluding event of National Youth Week, Cultural Infusion is proud to present Freestyle - Masters of Hiphop – National Final.

Sponsored by the Victorian Government, City of Melbourne and supported by FReeZA, Freestyle – Masters of Hiphop is the pinnacle of Cultural Infusion’s Contemporary Youth Culture Program which is delivered to hundreds of schools and community groups around Australia annually.

Following a series of qualifiers, Australia’s elite from six Hiphop elements have worked their way up to secure a spot in the National Final on Sunday, 18th of April, 2010 from 3 – 8pm. Also featuring showcases in Eskrima and graffiti art, the event revolves around urban culture, focusing primarily on Hiphop.

Come and see some of Australia’s highly talented and energetic Hiphop artists and crews rapping it out for the bragging rights to claim the crown as one of Australia’s Hiphop champions.

Who will take out this year’s Freestyle - Masters of Hiphop? Catch the vibe at Shed 4, Victoria Harbour, North Wharf Road, Docklands and see Australia’s top dogs go head-to-head in MC and DJ Battles, Graffiti Exhibitions, Beat boxing battles andHiphop Cultural Dance Competitions including B-boy & B-girl, Locking and Popping!

Get inspired by taking part in interactive Hiphop workshops and forums! The City of Melbourne’s new youth venue, Signal on Northbank, will host a Contemporary Youth Culture Forum from 12 noon to 1.30pm, just prior to the Freestyle – Masters of Hiphop, National Final, on the 18th of April as part of National Youth Week. The forum will focus on the benefits and opportunities that Hiphop creates for young people while covering broader urban and youth culture topics.

Hiphop culture is made up of young people from all cultural backgrounds and has the ability to not only enhance self esteem, but to bring communities together. This is a rare opportunity to witness polished and mind bending performances by dedicated and committed performers.
