Sunday 18 April 2010, 10am to 8pm. The 2010 Integrated Indian Festival of Australia: Unity in Diversity will bring Sandown Racecourse to life with the energetic style and colour of India on Sunday 18 April.
Visitors
to Unity in Diversity will experience a grand procession of vibrant world
performers and an exciting program of cultural presentations over multiple
stages including performances of narrative Indian Folk dance, colourful
Bollywood music and dance (Indo Jazz Fusion), Indigenous dance, South Korean
performance (Soothing Sori) and vibrant African drumming (Rhythm of Life).
This
family friendly, alcohol free event also features an array of food and
handicraft stalls from diverse cultures, children’s amusements and other activities.
Unity
in Diversity is presented by the Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria
(FIAV) and is proudly supported by the Victorian Multicultural Commission, City
of Greater Dandenong, Victoria Police, Vic Urban and Cambridge International
College Australia.
Unity in Diversity is held
on Sunday, 18 April 2010, 10am to 8pm at Sandown Racecourse, Springvale, entry
via Princess Highway. A $3 entry fee per
person applies or a $10 family ticket can be purchased (two adults and two
children). Free parking is available at
the festival site.
The Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria
(FIAV)was formed in 1989 by a group of resident Indian
migrants of long standing and repute that were keen to bring all the various
regional, cultural and lingual Indian groups together under the one umbrella
organisation. Since then the FIAV has grown to comprise over 20 active Indian
associations in Melbourne.
