MELBOURNE -- May 5, 2010 -- Splunk, the IT Search company, today announced the appointment of Daniel Miller as Regional Manager, Australia & New Zealand to head up the company's initial local presence.
Splunk pioneered IT Search, software that provides unique visibility across an entire IT infrastructure from one place in real time. Using Splunk organisations can now troubleshoot application problems and investigate security incidents in minutes instead of hours or days, monitor to avoid service degradation or outages and deliver compliance at lower cost. With Splunk, IT silos are eliminated and users gain new business insights from their IT data.
Splunk has an established indirect sales channel in Australia servicing leading local organisations including: Singtel Optus Australia, Ericsson Australia, Monash University, the Department of Health and Human Services Tasmania, Raytheon Australia and Lloyds International Australia.
Based in Melbourne, Miller is responsible for Splunk operations in Australia and New Zealand, including sales, marketing, education and training and channel relationships. He will also oversee technical support with Brett Matthews, Splunk's newly appointed Technical Lead for Australia & New Zealand.
Miller's key goal is to provide focussed and localised communications to customers, potential customers and channel partners on how best to leverage the benefits of Splunk from basic troubleshooting to satisfying compliance mandates.
"What's exciting for us is that organisations are downloading Splunk in Australia and New Zealand every day," says Miller. "As more and more users download and see the immediate value of Splunk our job is to demonstrate and highlight additional use cases so they can fully leverage the power of their IT data using Splunk."
One of Miller's goals is to educate customers and partners how to leverage IT Search for business purposes as well as IT. "With Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance for example, we have a unique value proposition to drive compliance along with massive IT operational efficiency," says Miller. "All organisations that transact online need to consider PCI compliance. With Splunk you can securely collect all PCI-relevant data and then search, alert and report on it to address the complete range of PCI related issues and requirements."
Miller reports to Splunk's regional headquarters in Hong Kong, headed up by Robert Lau, Vice President, Asia Pacific and Japan.
"Splunk is delighted to have hired an executive of Daniel Miller's talents and experience to head up its initial local presence for Australia and New Zealand," said Lau. "Daniel has a key role in driving Splunk's continued growth in the region through educating users and making them more successful."
Miller has extensive experience in a range of business development roles for IT vendors, distributors and systems integrators. Prior to joining Splunk, Miller held Senior Sales positions at the Telecommunications division of Frontline Systems and Sun Microsystems.
Miller holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Monash University.
