YOUNG PEOPLE, OLDER ROAD USERS TO BENEFIT FROM NRMA ROAD SAFETY GRANTS
Thursday 6 May 2010: Schoolchildren, young people and older road users will be the focus of NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants program in 2010.
NRMA Safer Driving School Manager Chris Nolan said four new categories were available including:
- 10 High School $1,000 grants
- 10 Youth $1,000 grants
- four Infant/Pre-School $2,500 grants
- four Older Road User $2,500 grants
“The new categories reflect the need for NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants to reach right across different groups in the community,” Mr Nolan said.
“After all, road safety starts at a very early age and continues right through life. These new grant categories will allow the NRMA to cater for the changing needs of road users.”
General Community grants up to $5,000 will be available meaning $100,000 worth of NRMA Safer Driving School Grants will be given to communities to develop solutions to local road safety problems.
NRMA Motoring & Services Director and Road Safety Ambassador Coral Taylor said that for 90 years, NRMA had been committed to making roads safer for everyone – drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists of all ages.
“This year NRMA is enabling more groups within the community to address local road safety issues,” Ms Taylor said.
“NRMA Safer Driving School Road Safety Grants provide community organisations a share of $100,000 to implement road safety initiatives which make a real difference at the local level.”
These grants are available to all government and not for profit organisations in NSW and ACT. In the Youth category only, individuals may also apply (parents or guardians must apply on behalf of individuals under the age of 18). Multiple submissions are permitted for different initiatives across different categories.
