ACCPAC Announces Next Generation Business Analysis Suite

Drives Value-Added Services for Accountants in Public Practice

ACCPAC International, Inc., a subsidiary of Computer Associates International, Inc. (NYSE: CA), today announced the release of a suite of products designed to simplify business analysis and create significant new service revenue opportunities for accounting professionals in public practice. ACCPAC Business Analysis Suite combines sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, financial diagnostics software with a standardised business health assessment methodology - enabling accountants to provide their clients with additional business advisory services and further solidify their role as a trusted business advisor.

Melbourne R&D

The suite, which will be available worldwide, was developed by ACCPAC in conjunction with Melbourne-based software developer, InMatrix.

ACCPAC Business Analysis Suite has three components:

ACCPAC Comprehensive Financial Optimizer (CFO)
ACCPAC Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
ACCPAC Business Health Test (BHT)

ACCPAC CFO and ACCPAC KPI are driven by standard financial statement data maintained by public accountants for all of their clients. The ACCPAC Business Health Test, a standardised diagnostics methodology, provides accountants with a simple, adaptable process for interpreting diagnostics results produced by CFO and KPI, and for creating a range of follow-on billable services.

Value-add has always been the mantra of the most successful consulting organisations, said Daithi Holden, ACCPACs Sydney-based Senior Vice President, and CEO Australia/NewZealand. The ACCPAC CFO Business Analysis Suite provides instant opportunity for accounting professionals to create an entirely new revenue stream based on high-value services their clients will understand and appreciate.

ACCPAC CFO: The centre-point for analysis

ACCPAC CFO is an innovative data analysis tool that provides accountants with a means to easily isolate and understand key business performance issues, enabling quicker analysis, decision-making and execution for change. CFO extracts base data from the ACCPAC Advantage Series or Pro Series general ledger. Data can also be entered independently or imported from other sources. CFO then provides a series of analysis and projection templates through which practitioners can evaluate business performance in detail with a few keystrokes.

ACCPAC CFOs launching point is the company balance sheet and income statement, the traditional common point of interest among company owners, their bankers and their accountants. While these reports provide basic information about a companys health, they are static documents not designed to be an interactive platform for creative problem solving such as what-if style business analysis.

ACCPAC CFO provides three core analytic functions: What-if Scenarios, Goal Seeking, and Budgeting/Forecasting. These enable users to easily develop financial models based on hypothetical indicators and desirable business targets. With ACCPAC CFO, accounting professionals can clearly demonstrate for their clients in an easy to understand and easy to communicate fashion the bottom line results that can be generated by establishing new business.

ACCPAC KPI expands CFO for multi-layered analysis / benchmarking

ACCPAC KPI Key Performance Indicators is an option that enhances the core ACCPAC CFO functionality by providing the ability to perform detailed comparisons between financial models, to enhance models with additional user-specific variables, and to benchmark results with data from similar organisations. The benchmarking capability allows accounting practitioners to easily consolidate data from several companies to create industry-specific benchmarks against which any similar business can be measured a client request they hear often, but can rarely address.

ACCPAC BHT standardises the approach for cost-effective consulting

The ACCPAC Business Health Test gives accounting professionals a standard analysis methodology for providing value-added services to business clients while using ACCPAC CFO and ACCPAC KPI. By guiding the consultant through the CFO and KPI analytics, ACCPAC BHT provides the practitioner with an easy to learn, easy to manage, and therefore easy to replicate procedure for conducting a detailed assessment of a clients business health. For accounting firms, especially those with multiple practitioners, this approach ensures that business assessment services can be provided to clients cost-effectively and with consistency.

The key client deliverable of ACCPAC BHT is the Business Health Report, which extensively details the outcomes and recommendations of the consulting engagement, using data drawn automatically from ACCPAC CFO. The Business Health Report includes three distinct sections: Business Health Summary; Growth and Performance Indicators; and Projected Impact of Recommended Actions.

Public accounting firms have long had the keys to the castle the financial compilations of thousands of clients so often viewed as the by-product of their engagements, said Holden. The ACCPAC Business Analysis Suite empowers these trusted business advisors to use these keys to unlock entirely new and lucrative service revenue streams and further satisfy their clients in the process.
