Online design start-up DesignCrowd nominated for 10X10 award at Creative Sydney Festival

Australian and Sydney based crowdsourcing start-up DesignCrowd.com has been nominated as one of the top 100 creative organisations as part of the Vivid Sydney Festival 2010
Sydney-based online design crowdsourcing site DesignCrowd (www.designcrowd.com) and founder Alec Lynch have been nominated as one of the top 100 up-and-coming creatives in Sydney as part of the Creative Sydney's 10X10 Project. The 10X10 Project is part of the Vivid Sydney Festival running from 27 May to 21 June 2010 and features 100 entrepreneurs, creatives and businesses nominated by 10 leading Australian creative thinkers including Margaret Pomeranz.
DesignCrowd and Lynch were nominated by futurist Ross Dawson in his digital category of the 10X10 awards. DesignCrowd is one of Sydney and Australia's fastest growing online start-ups and has been featured in The Sydney Morning Herald, The Australian Financial Review and Smart Company. DesignCrowd has recently grown its international graphic designer community to over 15,000 .
DesignCrowd was started by Sydney based entrepreneur Alec Lynch in 2008 from his dining room table and after bootstrapping for 18 months raised capital from a syndicate of Sydney based angel investors. Lynch now runs DesignCrowd with Adam Arbolino from their office next to Woolworth's headquarters in Norwest Business Park, Western Sydney. Both Lynch and Arbolino studied IT and programming at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) before trying to start their first business together in 2004 and short but successful careers in consulting - Lynch spent 2 years and management consulting firm Booz & Co while Arbolino spent 2 years at IBM.
