International transportation scheduling conference to be held in Italy

The Conference on Transportation Scheduling and Disruption Handling will be held 20 to 22 September in Prato, Italy.

According to organisers Constraint Technologies, the 2nd Conference on Transportation Scheduling and Disruption Handling will deal with software alorigthms for optimisation of transportation schedules, focusing on the interaction between scheduling and on-the-day operation.

The integration between scheduling and disruption handling has recently become a focus of intensive research.

The focus of this conference is on software algorithms for optimization of transportation schedules, focusing on the interaction between scheduling and on-the-day operation. The research community targeted by the conference is the “hybrid algorithms” community combining techniques from Constraint Programming, Artificial Intelligence and Operational Research.

Constraint Technologies is very happy to announce their 3 key speaker:

Pascal Van Hentenryck

Anita Schoebel

Philip Kilby

The conference will comprise of three sessions with the following confirmed:

Online optimisation

·         Invited speaker: Pascal Van Hentenryck, Brown University.

·         Title of presentation: "Disaster Planning, Response, and Recovery".

Rail optimisation

·         Invited speaker: Anita Schoebel, University of Goettingen.

·         Title of presentation: "Robustness concepts and their application to timetables in public transport".

Transport scheduling with side-constraints

·         Invited speaker: Philip Kilby, National ICT Australia (NICTA).

·         Title of presentation: "Flexible Routing with Constraints".
