Introducing the Navig8r i50 with Australian-first driver profiles

Announcement posted by Dash PR 23 Aug 2010

Sydney, Australia, 19 August, 2010 – LASER Corporation, makers of Navig8r GPS devices, today announced the new Navig8r iSeries i50 GPS which includes the unique driver profiles feature – a first for the Australian market.

The Navig8r i50 is a clever device, blending smart design with superior software developed in Australia, specifically for Australians. Its key new feature is Driver Profiles which is a first to market and unique to Australian drivers. With Driver Profiles, Learner drivers can monitor speed relevant to the signposted limit, maintain a driving log, display real time data on driving hours accumulated and percentage of driving time speeding. Additionally, Learner drivers can produce a driving log report for presentation to the RTA (or equivalent in states outside NSW).

The Driver Profiles feature on the Naivg8r i50 is particularly beneficial for novice L or P plate drivers where it is mandatory to record a log of driving hours, including supervision, adverse weather (in states where it is required to keep a record) and night time driving. Parents are also able to keep a watchful eye on teenagers driving behaviour and habits by way of an electronic trip log. The amount and type of driving can be tracked, for example, the i50 shows parents how often the learner was speeding – ideal when borrowing the family car.

The Navig8r i50 is also valuable for truck drivers and business people who need to maintain a log book of driving hours and distances. Quite simply, at the beginning of each trip drivers enter the speedometer reading and reason for trip, then allow the Navig8r i50 to automatically calculate time and kilometres. Subsequently, reports can be processed and printed for driving records, making it a much more effortless and accurate log book maintenance solution.

Furthermore, the Navig8r i50 includes SpeedAlert which confirms current speed limits with visual and audible warnings – a true licence saving application. SpeedAlert enables the i50 to caution drivers if the vehicle is exceeding the speed limit, as well as alerting drivers of variable speed limits at different times of the day, such as school zones and on freeways. In conjunction with Driver Profiles, SpeedAlert notifies the i50 to record when a driver exceeds the speed limit which can also be included in the report, plus the percentage of time spent speeding.

Featuring a large 5-inch LCD touchscreen with anti-glare, the i50 comes complete with a Bluetooth receiver and FM transmitter for on board for hands-free operation.

The Navig8r iSeries i50 GPS is available now through electrical retailers and computer resellers in Australia. RRP AU$199 inc GST.
