IT Views joins Longhaus TV Network

Announcement posted by Melbourne IT 21 Oct 2010

New ICT video channel to be sponsored by Melbourne IT

Brisbane, Australia – 21 October 2010 – Longhaus TV today announced the launch of ITViews, a new Internet video channel showcasing the opinions of Australian ICT leaders, with Melbourne IT Enterprise Services agreeing to be the lead sponsor of the new channel.

The ITViews content will be produced by Stern Media, which has extensive industry experience working with leading online media companies and will play a vital role in bringing ITViews to life alongside Longhaus and Melbourne IT.  At launch, ITViews will feature two programmes aimed at showcasing key industry topics through panel discussion and vox-pop style interviews. These include CloudViews, a dedicated discussion panel for software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud computing, and TechViews, covering general IT topics. These programs will help make ITViews compelling viewing for the ICT industry.

“Australia has a vibrant ICT industry with many innovative projects and a lot of talented ICT leaders. ITViews will help explore this innovation and insight and share it with a wider audience. Melbourne IT is excited to sponsor such an important opportunity and to help showcase the views of the local industry,” Melbourne IT Enterprise Services’ sales and marketing director, Mark Elliott, said.

“The market is looking more and more to video to fill a content gap.  As broadband improves and content grows there will be increasing demand for IPTV services such as ITViews and Longhaus TV," Stern Media’s managing director, Sam Stern, said.

Melbourne IT’s MediaPoint video delivery platform underpins the Longhaus TV (LTV) network which launched at the beginning of 2010.  MediaPoint is an industry leading digital media management and publishing platform which at its core has a powerful transcoding engine and digital media management system designed to make it easy to store, manage, transcode and distribute high-quality video content across the Internet.

Longhaus is internationally recognised as Australia's leading boutique ICT research and advisory company.  The company supplements its traditional analyst services by offering publicly available Internet television programming through the www.longhaus.tv rich-media website.  Complimentary programs includes The Advisor, and Prosumer.au, which deliver local and international CIO, CEO, and technology executive interviews with a focus on analytical trends and market movements.

Longhaus also provides a per-user-per-month subscriber-only service through Longhaus Television called The Research Channel.  Time-poor, technology oriented executives and decision makers can access 5-10 minute video briefings with Longhaus analysts through two programs called Industry & Technology, and Markets & Economics.  Subscriber episodes stream analyst commentary pertaining to supplier recommendations, vendor strategies, and decision support all underpinned by core research data and traditional reporting.  Transcripts and podcasts are also made available to subscribers.

The service is being broadened to include iPhone and iPad access with an “LTV” service being made available through the App Store early in 2011 making it ideal for on-the-go executives involved in all parts of the ICT industry.
