University of South Australia Implements Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions

· The University of South Australia (UniSA) has upgraded its Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise System with a new deployment of Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 to help streamline its online student information management system.
· PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 has consolidated all student records and admissions onto a single Partner Student Information System (PSIS).The PeopleSoft Enterprise deployment includes PeopleSoft Enterprise Student Administration; PeopleSoft Enterprise Recruiting and Admissions; PeopleSoft Enterprise Student Records; PeopleSoft Enterprise Student Financials; and PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Community.
· UniSA has also deployed Oracle Real Application Clusters running on the Linux operating system to support the upgrade. Oracle Real Application Clusters enables the University to run an Oracle Database across multiple servers at a lower cost. As a result, the University expects to save A$2.5 million over the next five years with more flexible infrastructure.
· UniSA has 36,156 students and 2,396 teach staff across campuses in Adelaide and Whyalla.

· Peoplesoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 allows UniSA to take advantage of Campus Solutions Feature Packs to keep the system up to date without having to schedule big upgrade projects that may disrupt the day to day running of the University; saving time and staff resources.
· The Campus Solutions Feature Pack has a unique set of functions that are rolled out to the application in increments, as and when required. This Continuous Delivery Model provides the University a pathway toward service-oriented architecture.
· The new PeopleSoft system has allowed UniSA to redevelop a range of services - including its student enrolment system -- myEnrolment; its graduation system -- myGraduation; as well as its staff and student portals that are commonly used to upload and retrieve exam results.
· The updated system enables lecturers and other academics to upload students’ results almost instantly online rather than spend hours manipulating various spreadsheets to collate information. This allows lecturers to spend less time on administrative tasks and more time on teaching and research.
· UniSA has used PeopleSoft Enterprise Student Records to redesign its Credit Transfer Register to improve record keeping of credit arrangements and reduce processing time for credit applications and advice to prospective students.
· PeopleSoft Enterprise Campus Solutions 9.0 also adheres to regulatory changes put in place over the past few years by the Australian Government. These changes relate mainly to new fee structures, scholarships and entitlements for students. The system also supports the issuance of a Government student identification number that is used to track individual students across multiple institutions.
