Announcement posted by Wine Australia 28 Jan 2011
South Australia’s first state-wide wine festival has attracted some of the country’s most influential wine experts who will converge on Adelaide to host exclusive public tastings, and be a part of this significant event.
The inaugural ‘Cellar Door Wine Festival – Adelaide’, will be a part of the state’s impressive festival line-up, as well as being an official Fringe event and will be held at the Adelaide Convention Centre, from February 25th – 27th, 2011.
Wine lovers will experience three days immersed among some of South Australia’s pre-eminent producers, with tastings, themed food and wine trails, as well as opportunities to meet some of our most famous winemakers.
The event has also attracted many smaller producers who have not yet established cellar door facilities as it provides an opportunity to showcase their wines to the public.
A key attraction of the festival will be ticketed ‘A+ Australian Wine’ consumer master classes, featuring wine media identities, writers and professionals Max Allen, Tony Love and Paul Henry as hosts.
Tony Love, wine and restaurant reviewer for The Advertiser (News Ltd), said he was excited to be involved.
“This is a brilliant opportunity for people to get a genuine taste of what South Australia’s regions do best. The A+ Australian Wine master classes offer the chance for visitors to see our regional hero wines as well as alternative and emerging varieties. And the wines on show are amazing – it should be fantastic,” he said.
The A+ Australian Wine master classes are being sponsored by Wine Australia, which will also unveil its new A+ Australian Wine brand to local wine enthusiasts. The key marketing objective of the A+ Australian Wine initiative is to promote the people, places and regions of the wine community.
