North East Pfeast - Regional Victoria’s World’s Longest Lunch – March 2011

Announcement posted by Pfeiffer Wines 08 Feb 2011

Victoria’s World’s Longest Lunches wind their way through some of the states most spectacular regions and are a highlight of the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival – a globally acclaimed culinary program of events held over 12 days annually since 1991.

Traditionally, the lunches are hosted by 1-2 operators. To maximise destination competitiveness, greater market reach, cooperative branding and image building, community engagement and efficiency through joint marketing efforts, food and wine producers of North East Victoria will come together in 2011 to host a truly regional World’s Longest Lunch.

From the Murray to the Mountains, North East Victoria’s five sub regions – Rutherglen, King Valley, Alpine Valley, Beechworth and Glenrowan – have some of Australia’s freshest local produce, some of the finest culinary masters and some of the countries greatest wines. The North East Pfeast will bring together the very best these 5regions have to offer, showcasing 5 regional courses and 15 regional wines, in a spectacular setting, on the historic timber bridge at Pfeiffer Wines, Rutherglen.

Boasting a combined total of 20 chef’s hats and it's own award winning sommelier, Rocco Esposito, the lunch will feature dishes created by Simone’s of Bright, Michael Ryan of Provenance, Brown Brothers Epicurean Centre, Milawa Cheese Factory, Pickled Sisters, Beaumont’s, Myrtleford Butter Factory, Waddington’s, Rinaldo’s Casa Cucina and Sam Miranda.
