2011: the year of bold colours and patterns

Announcement posted by Villeroy & Boch 16 Feb 2011

Tableware is an important element of home décor, creating a theme and mood for mealtimes and expressing a part of who we are, according to Villeroy & Boch marketing manager, MaryAnne Fesq.

When it comes to creating atmospheric table settings in 2011, Fesq predicts that bold colours and patterns will share a more balanced stage with white tableware.

“Rich colour is returning to tableware, whether it is splashed across an entire range or represented in a single statement piece. Rustic reds and brilliant blues will feature strongly this year, providing home entertainers with a colourful accent to their culinary creations. Many European chefs use colour to enhance the food they serve and we encourage more people to embrace this approach to tableware.”

Villeroy & Boch’s Samarkand Classic Buffet Plates are a lively way to add colour to the table, with four vibrant plate designs. The pieces inject a sense of occasion and drama to single-tone settings.

Fesq also believes that strong patterns will prevail. “Traditional and modern patterns will be everywhere in 2011, from botanical themes to abstract shapes and swirls.”

Villeroy & Boch’s Althea Nova china is the perfect example of a pattern inspired by nature, with beautifully detailed drawings of herbs that weave across each piece.

Modern Grace Grey has its own distinctive character that reflects the spirit of the late 60s, blending geometric shapes and art deco patterns.

“For those who prefer classic white tableware, the choice of new season stemware and cutlery can make its own statement. From Villeroy & Boch’s Modern Grace glassware with a gemstone effect at the top of the stem, to the hammer-stroke surface of its Blacksmith cutlery, the choices will be endless.”
