YumTable rewrites the book on restaurant bookings for Melburnians

Announcement posted by Spark Communications 05 Apr 2011

Eat, last minute
A new way to dine-out is on the menu for Melburnians with the launch of Yumtable, a restaurant site offering last minute restaurant deals and instant call-free bookings via iPhone App or website www.yumtable.com.au, all in a click.

YumTable’s technology makes it possible for restaurants to target customers in a non intrusive way. Restaurants with table availability at any time can now reach hungry diners with last minute exclusive deals.

Would-be diners simply log in and are set – no phone calls, no guessing game about when to arrive or waiting for call-backs from restaurants.

With the likes of Melbourne institution Flower Drum and Gary Mehigan’s Fenix already on board, the restaurant industry has built anticipation around YumTable’s official consumer launch on April 5. The strength of these partnerships further solidifies YumTable’s commitment to providing customers with a superior service offering.

A keen interest in the customer and end users, together with an understanding of the pressures faced by restaurants and cafes when streamlining the running of their businesses brought MYOB founder, Craig Winkler to this noteworthy solution.

"YumTable takes the hassle out of getting a table or finding a new restaurant to try. Best of all you're likely to get a good deal at the same time, without the embarrassment of pulling out a discount coupon," said Winkler.

Despite being approached by Internet booking services in the past, Chef Tom Stanislavski of St. Jude’s Cellars describes Yumtable as a cut above the rest. “The difference is not only the significantly lower cost to restaurateurs per table booking, but the ease of use when scheduling our latest deals and vacancies which lifts the site into its own category,”

“It’s exciting to work with people championing new business models and advocates for restaurants.” said Stanislavski.

Restaurant overheads are made up of perishable inventory including food, kitchen and service labour costs. "For restaurants, coupons, vouchers and one-off deals are not serving their fluctuating daily business needs." said Niv Novak, Business Development Director at Yum Table. “With YumTable restaurants can now rapidly generate demand which is highly targeted to local hungry diners” said Novak.

The YumTable iPhone App is now available as a free app from iTunes. YumTable is launching in Melbourne today. Additional states to be announced soon. To view a Video News Release for YumTable go to http://www.youtube.com/user/yumtable.
