Four outstanding volunteers who volunteer for a charity or
not-for-profit organisation will be recognised for their work with a
$5,000 donation to the charity they volunteer for, plus a great
Australian getaway for two.
NRMA President Wendy Machin said communities were held together
by volunteers who supported many organisations that would otherwise be
unable to operate due to lack of funding.
"Never more has the value of Australian volunteers been more
apparent than in the wake of recent natural disasters," Ms Machin said.
"Now more than ever we should be recognising the incredibly
important work of volunteers and letting them know how valued they are
in their communities.
"We want to recognise volunteers who pitch in and help whenever
and wherever needed – that is what the NRMA's Helping People Awards are
all about.
"We have a culture of volunteering among our staff here at the
NRMA and we know many of our Members also volunteer in their
communities."
Volunteers can be nominated in one of the following award categories until Friday, 29 July 2011:
