Compuware helps customers effectively manage application performance of new technologies in complex environments

Announcement posted by Bass PR 04 Aug 2004

Compuware STROBE 3.1 and Compuware iSTROBE 2.0 deliver robust java, WebSphere application server and DB2 V8 support
Compuware Asia-Pacific today announced new versions of its enterprise application performance management products, Compuware STROBE 3.1 and Compuware iSTROBE 2.0. Compuware STROBE products enable IT organisations to quickly locate and eliminate the sources of application inefficiencies, in complex application environments, thereby allowing them to meet their most important business objectives: controlling costs, satisfying customers and supporting corporate growth.
Increasing deployment of applications in J2EE environments brings many new challenges to IT organisations, according to Tim Grieser, Vice President for System Management Software research at IDC. Identifying and fixing performance problems requires specialised tools such as Compuware STROBE and Compuware iSTROBE that can be used to monitor and diagnose bottlenecks in J2EE-based applications.
New in Compuware STROBE 3.1 is support for DB2 V8, in both new function and compatibility modes. IT departments must focus on business application performance as they migrate their DB2 V7 applications to DB2 V8, or as they develop and deploy V8 applications. Compuware STROBE helps users quickly find and fix performance problems in applications using DB2, enabling them to migrate to DB2 V8 with confidence.
DB2 V8 is one of the most significant DB2 releases ever. It is critically important for organisations to understand the performance implications of migrating to, and using DB2 V8, said Peter Pritchard, marketing director, Compuware Asia-Pacific. Compuware STROBE 3.1 and the iSTROBE SQL Analysis capability are one of the few tools available today to help customers understand and improve the performance of their DB2 V8 applications.
In addition, Compuware STROBE 3.1 provides support for WebSphere Application Server, complementing its existing support for Java, enabling users to manage and improve the performance of Java and WebSphere applications. Compuware STROBE 3.1 also provides unique information on how Java and WebSphere applications interact with CICS, DB2 and other z/OS facilities.
New in Compuware iSTROBE 2.0 is a web server architecture that can run on both mainframe and distributed web servers. This new architecture improves centralised access and reduces requirements for user workstations. In addition, Compuware iSTROBE 2.0 improves profile management, allows users to document and share their own performance hints, provides enhanced Java support and improves report sorting. Compuware iSTROBE 2.0 also integrates with Compuware Application Reliability Solution (CARS) and Compuware VantageView 9.
These major enhancements in Compuware STROBE 3.1 and Compuware iSTROBE 2.0 demonstrate Compuwares commitment to support customers as they utilise the latest technologies, including exploitation of 64-bit technology, continued Pritchard. The Compuware STROBE product line provides unprecedented breadth and depth that users need to understand and improve their application performance.
