NRMA calls on country drivers to share the road

Announcement posted by NRMA Motoring & Services 09 Jun 2011

The NRMA’s touring Mobile Member Centre will bring road safety and education to the Warren Show this weekend.

There will be something for show-goers of any age with Norman and Norma activity books for children and interactive displays including the latest ANCAP crash test videos for those wanting to learn more about car safety.

NRMA Motoring & Services Director Graham Blight said that this year’s Warren Show provided a great opportunity to reinforce important safety and motoring messages to its visitors.

"Trucks are the lifeline of communities, carrying three-quarters of Australia’s freight," Mr Blight said.

"Drivers living in rural areas such as Warren regularly have to travel on long stretches of road and highways alongside large semi-trailer trucks.

"The estimated number of trucks on the road is said to double by 2020 and triple by 2050.

"With more trucks on regional roads and highways, it is as important as ever to remind drivers to be cautious and considerate of other vehicles.

"Sharing simple and easy to follow safety tips with the Warren community through the Mobile Member Centre will help motorists in the area make better decisions on the road."

The Mobile Member Centre will also have the latest ANCAP Crash Test Videos. Visitors are welcome to test the safety of a range of vehicles by watching the latest ANCAP crash test videos at the Mobile Member Centre.

"The Mobile Member Centre will have plenty of giveaways this weekend including NRMA’s new Norma & Norman Roadbot activity books designed to educate young children about road safety," Mr Blight said.

The NRMA’s Mobile Member Centre will be at the Warren Show on Saturday June 11, 2011.
