Chilean Navy Adopts Mincom’s Next-Generation Solution for Enterprise Asset Management

World-leading defense organization adopts Mincom Ellipse 8 to improve visibility and sustainment of critical assets through their lifecycle

SANTIAGO, June 1, 2011 — Mincom, a leading global provider of software and services for asset-intensive industries, today announced a significant new agreement with the Chilean Navy. One of the world’s most modern defense agencies, the Chilean Navy has selected Mincom Ellipse 8, a powerful solution for enterprise work and asset management that significantly enhances asset performance and workforce productivity. As part of the agreement, the Chilean Navy will also implement the finance module of Mincom Ellipse, providing the agency with comprehensive financial-management capabilities.

The upgrade to Ellipse 8 will help the Chilean Navy to optimize visibility of key assets, and speed decision-making processes by underpinning a fully integrated military logistics information management system. Additionally, the finance module will provide the agency with comprehensive global financial management, helping ensure all financial transactions are captured during an asset’s lifecycle.

“We are pleased to sign this important agreement with Mincom and implement Ellipse 8 as our asset management solution across all operations nationwide,” said Commander Omar Mahmoud, Head of SALINO Department, Chilean Navy. “Mincom has demonstrated itself to be a reliable and effective EAM solutions provider that has always been able to meet our challenging needs. With Ellipse 8, we will gain one of the most modern and comprehensive platforms for enterprise asset management, enabling us to further reduce IT costs, improve our return on assets, and increase workforce productivity.”

The upgrade builds upon the Chilean Navy’s long-term partnership with Mincom, which spans more than a decade. Supported by Mincom Ellipse, the agency’s Integrated Naval Logistic Management System (referred to in Spanish as SALINO) is an internationally renowned platform that provides the Chilean Navy with greater visibility into its inventory; delivers real-time information on key equipment, supplies and maintenance; and reduces the personnel and time needed to conduct major ship refurbishments.

“It is an honor for Mincom to support the management of an institution as prestigious and well known for its advanced capabilities as the Chilean Navy,” said Bruce Jacquemard, Mincom President of the Americas and EVP Global Defense. “We are confident that Ellipse 8, the most powerful software release for asset and work management in our company’s history, will further enhance the Chilean Navy’s reputation as a leader in defense.”

Mincom Ellipse 8 is the most modern and complete Enterprise Asset Management solution designed expressly for industries with asset-intensive operating environments. Mincom Ellipse 8 provides companies in asset-heavy industries – such as mining, defense, energy, public infrastructure and transit – with a fully integrated and mobile-enabled suite of business-critical applications that improves their return on assets and workforce productivity, while also addressing the challenges inherent in remote and geographically dispersed operations that distinguish these industries from corporate-office environments.

In operation since 1818, the Chilean Navy is considered among the most capable and modern navies in the Americas, and is heavily aligned with significant naval powers such as the United States Navy and the British Royal Navy. It is located on Chilean territory from Arica to Puerto Williams, and conducts its operations from its major bases located at Valparaso, Talcahuano, Iquique and Punta Arenas.
