A six week experiment by British magazine Nature involving more than 11,000 people on the benefits of brain training games concluded that while participants did improve their ability to play the actual brain training games, these benefits did not transfer to other brain skills such as memory, planning or problem-solving.
However there are more general lifestyle strategies that studies have shown can delay - or even prevent - the onset of dementia. These include: mentally stimulating activities, keeping fit, maintaining a healthy diet, remaining socially active, not smoking, and drinking alcohol in moderation.
