NRMA President Wendy Machin said the Electric Vehicle Roadshow would be a great opportunity to see some of the amazing transport alternatives to the traditional petrol-run motor car and test-drive these cars of the future.
“As the price of fuel continues to rise, car companies are investing in electric technology and producing economical and environmental vehicles,” Ms Machin said.
The NRMA Electric Vehicle Roadshow will include a wide range of hybrid and electric vehicles including the Toyota Prius, two Mitsubishi i-MiEVs, Honda Insight, the hybrid Toyota Camry and two electric pushbikes.
Ms Machin said Australia needs to get serious about reducing dependency on foreign fuels.
“We can reduce this dependency by introducing alternative fuels; and investing in electric vehicle technology,” Ms Machin said.
“The NRMA is also investing in electric vehicle technology, recently launching a fully electric roadside service vehicle that will attend to NRMA Members in the Sydney CBD.
”We encourage Members to come down to the Port Macquarie Racecourse at 10.00am on Friday 22 July to see and trial the electric and hybrid vehicles on display.”
NRMA’s biodiesel-powered Mobile Member Centre will be supporting the Electric Vehicle Roadshows by providing Members with information on road, vehicle and driver safety.
“Kids can have a break with Wii game consoles onboard the Mobile Member Centre and with NRMA’s new Norma & Norman Roadbot activity books designed to educate young children about road safety,” Ms Machin said.
NRMA President Wendy Machin will be present at the Roadshow and is available for interviews.
