Advanced technology drives inspired design in Belkin's new routers
Faster. Further. Smarter
At Belkin, strong, inspired design is vital to our brand. But strong design is nothing without the performance to back it up. When we recently changed the look of our routers, we did so from the inside out to ensure that the technology inside offered faster, stronger and more robust wireless coverage to fit today's constantly connected lifestyle. In 2004, we introduced the first MIMO product (Belkin Wireless Pre-N Router), but now the technology is widely available and part of the 802.11n standard. In order to keep moving forward, Belkin developed a new antenna technology, MultiBeam, which utilises a slot design to deliver a higher gain and improves upon the performance of a MIMO system. This technology increases the router's wireless coverage to achieve higher and more consistent network speed and minimises the number of wireless dead spots in a home environment.
We designed the new router chassis specifically to support the new MultiBeam antennas and maximise the MIMO sphere and absolute coverage distance. Whereas traditional routers tend to provide a donut-shaped coverage pattern – flat and wide – the new Belkin routers orient and polarise the internal MultiBeam antennas to provide improved coverage in all directions – more of an apple shape.
This Advanced Technology and Inspired design now form the basis for our fantastic new range of wireless routers. We are launching a range of 4 new wireless routers, the N150, N300, N600 DB and N750 DB – each offer superior speed, functionality and design.
Each of the routers offers something different to fit a wide range of lifestyles, but each includes the proprietary MultiBeam antennas, from two antennas in the N150 to five antennas in the N750. Most of the routers also include high powered amplifiers to add more horsepower to drive the wireless signal even further.
The N750, also has a technology called implicit beam forming, whereby the energy of the radio signal is focused toward the devices on the network instead of radiating in all directions. In terms of speed, the Belkin N750 uses the IEEE 3x3 standard to transmit data on three streams, simultaneously, whereas traditional 11n routers transmit using two streams. The third stream gives 50 percent better throughput. Additionally, the N750 also features a Hardware-based Network Address Translation that is implemented in the core chipsets to enable lightning-fast NAT speeds (up to 900+ Mbps) and the ability to route at these speeds – without compromising the performance of the rest of your home network.
Aside from coverage and speed, we have also enhanced the USB performance of the N600 and N750 dual-band routers, in order to provide robust media streaming to networked devices throughout the home.
What does all this mean? The new Belkin routers improve internet coverage for multistory houses, for all your internet needs. They can do more, for more devices, in more places.
