Compuware Evaluated Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute
DETROIT - September 21, 2011 - Compuware Corporation <http://www.compuware.com/>  (Nasdaq: CPWR), the technology performance company, today announced that Gartner Inc. has placed Compuware in the “leaders” quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Application Performance Monitoring (APM) (1). The report evaluated 29 vendors on completeness of vision and ability to execute. A complimentary copy of the report can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/q5jKi7 <http://bit.ly/q5jKi7> .

Six aspects characterise vendors that appear in the Leaders Quadrant: 1). competitive offerings related to all five dimensions of APM and best-of-breed functionality in two or more of the dimensions; 2). credibility in the monitoring of application domains assembled from heterogeneous sources; 3). effective integration across four or more of the dimensions; 4). the ability to deliver and support APM on a global basis; 5). a consistent track record of innovation; and 6). a vision that places APM at the heart of operations and application management.

Compuware has been driving an aggressive growth strategy for its APM business, which saw its license and subscription fees leap 34.1 percent on a pro forma basis in fiscal year 2011. Reflecting this growth, Compuware was recently named the #1 provider of web performance monitoring solutions to the largest online retailers in the U.S. by Internet Retailer Magazine <http://www.internetretailer.com/top500/list/>  for the fifth year in a row, with more of the top 500 customers than the No. 2 and No. 3 vendors combined. Additional accomplishments to meet customer demand in Compuware’s APM business include the acquisition of dynaTrace <http://investor.compuware.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=589264>  – with its five-year CAGR of 125 percent – and three major releases of the integrated Gomez APM solution <http://investor.compuware.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=576710> .

With the combination of dynaTrace’s powerful technology <http://www.dynatrace.com/en/magic-of-purepath.aspx>  with Compuware’s market leading Gomez APM Solution <http://www.compuware.com/application-performance-management/the-gomez-platform.html> , Compuware now offers organisations a groundbreaking, next generation APM solution that uniquely meets the new demands of modern apps and cloud-based services and delivers insight into the performance of every transaction, from development through test and into production.

“We are extremely honored that Gartner has positioned Compuware as a leader in the application performance monitoring Magic Quadrant,” said Bruce Reading, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Compuware’s APM business unit. “Our APM strategy centres around delivering comprehensive and unique value to our customers, and we’re pleased and believe this is reflected in Gartner’s evaluation.”

Compuware’s acquisition of dynaTrace was not reflected in Gartner’s evaluation of Compuware because the acquisition happened while the Gartner report was being finalised.
