Online Video becomes more standardised
27 September 2011 – Media and technology company The Video Network (TVN) today announced key platform deals with several leading Australian broadcasters.
Ninemsn and SBS are among the many publishers currently leveraging TVN’s ad-insertion technology “The Video Platform” (TVP) to deliver interactive TV style commercials into video content across multiple screens.
The Video Network’s technology delivers more than 1.5 billion video ads per month on a global scale. In Australia, TVN has championed the use of their VAST compliant technology, an IAB endorsed standard, which is now the dominant ad-serving standard for internet video in Australia. TVN studies have revealed that approximately 60% of ads in Australia are now served with VAST compliant technology.
“Delivering cross-platform TV experiences across multiple screens is increasingly important to Australian brands. We’re excited to be partnering with TVN and using its technology to deliver effective cross platform TV advertising for our customers,” said Dean Capobianco, Commercial Director, ninemsn.
SBS has selected TVN as its mobile video ad serving partner in order to deliver VAST capability on smartphones and tablets. “With VAST the standard in the market for online video, its only logical that mobile video should fall under that standard too. We’re looking forward to understanding mobile audience viewing patterns and understanding how they complement our online and TV viewership” said Guy Burbidge, National Online Sales Manager, SBS.
“TVN’s mission is about enabling internet TV, which boils down to supporting business models for the monetisation of video content. The result is more online video content for Australian viewers, and more advertising opportunities for brands. We are extremely excited to be partnering with Australia’s leading broadcasters to help usher in the age of Internet TV,” said TVN Co-Managing Director Joshua Iselin.
