UXC Connect wins 2011 highly regarded Cultural Transformation Award, Human Synergistics 2011
Sydney, Australia – 24th October, 2011 – UXC Connect has been announced as a recipient of the Human Synergistics ‘Culture Transformation Achievement Award’ this year.
The award is presented to organisations in Australia and New Zealand that have created and sustained a strong and constructive work culture. UXC Connect received the award for its efforts to transform the company, formerly known as Getronics into a more culturally focused and aware organisation.
The cultural overhaul began in 2005 when it was recognised that the company needed to better connect employees to organisational goals in order to support the delivery of better business outcomes.
Transformation came from the top, teaching executives and managers to become more effective leaders – these changes embraced an inclusive culture, where individuals understood how they contributed to the company’s success. The results over time have increased revenue and profit, as well significantly reducing employee turnover and improving customer satisfaction.
UXC Connect now forms the largest Australian owned ICT infrastructure solutions and services company, having merged Integ, UXC Connect (formerly known as Getronics) and XSI Data Solutions to begin trading as UXC Connect as of 1 July this year.
When the merger discussions took effect, the company’s leadership efforts in the cultural transformation space served as a solid foundation for successfully undertaking this significant transition. The attitudes and strategies that started Getronics’s cultural renaissance formed an integral part of the merger process, where effective change management was crucial to a successful business transition.
UXC Connect’s CEO Ian Poole believes that the company’s strong cultural foundation played an important role in the preparation for the next stage in its business journey, and ensured the leadership team worked closely to engage the employees as the business grew.
“Our customers always come first, and our embodiment of a flat company structure empowers our teams to drive fast and efficient decision making, as well as fostering quality employee and client relationships,” said Poole. “The long term effect of our business transformation is strong employee value, staff retention and a long term view of how everyone contributes to the success of the business, enabled by the cultural insights we gained through the Human Synergistics program.”
To meet the criteria of the awards, organisations entering are required to provide evidence of their cultural transformation, showing they have moved from a red (aggressive/defensive) and green (passive/defensive) focused working culture to one that is dominated by constructive cultural styles (blue) – including Achievement, Self-Actualising, Humanistic-Encouraging and Affiliative. Human Synergistics reviews its database annually to assess members based on specific criteria for their eligibility for the cultural transformation awards.
