November 7, Melbourne, Australia: Australia’s leading group buying site Scoopon launches in Geelong on Monday November 7, bringing shoppers the hottest deals in their local area.
The launch marks Scoopon’s eighth location and is part of the company’s plans to expand its network into new locations, including major regional centres, so that more Australians can enjoy the best their city has on offer, for less.
“Now people living in Geelong can stay in the know about the best ways to enjoy their city, without breaking the bank,” said general manager of Scoopon Jon Beros.
Beros said that in over one year Scoopon customers have saved more than $362 million with incredible deals on a wide range of activities.
“Typically our customers can expect savings of up to 70 percent and we are looking forward to bringing these type of savings to the people of Geelong,” he said.
In preparation for its launch Scoopon has signed on a number of local merchants and Beros said demand is strong amongst business owners looking to harness the power that group buying can bring to their business.
Recent research from Telsyte shows that group buying sector revenue has generated $320 million this year and is set to exceed $400 million revenue by the end of 2011.
Fitness chain Contours is one of the suppliers offering a Scoopon in Geelong during the launch week.
“When Contours used Scoopon in Melbourne the website received 2,000 sales in 24 hours, so it makes sense to grow our customer base in Geelong through Scoopon,” said Contours East and West Geelong manager Ricki Jones. “Scoopon also allow potential customers to try out Contours without risk.”
