Masport Challenges You to do the Magnet Test on Your BBQ

Announcement posted by mellennium PR 09 Nov 2011

Here’s a simple test. Take a magnet and place it on a stainless steel barbecue. If the magnet sticks to the stainless steel it’s not 304 grade.

304 grade stainless steel is austenitic steel that is more durable and corrosion resistant than the magnetic type 403 grade stainless steel, which is commonly used on many barbecues. This is because of the higher level levels of nickel and chromium used in the 304 grade. It’s especially suited for appliances that are used and stored outside, such as barbecues.

Masport uses 304 stainless steel on all its premium barbecues in the 2011 range, so they have a higher resistance to rust than the lower cost 430 grade stainless steel that is common in the marketplace.

The latest premium barbecue collection from Masport ranges from the four burner Elite 210 to the mighty Ambassador Deluxe 210, a truly impressive appliance with a 10 year grill body warranty. Masport barbecues boast an array of additional features designed to help and enhance your outdoor cooking skills.

Taking some of the guess work out of barbecuing, a temperature gauge accurately measures the heat and LED lights (Ambassador Deluxe 210) allow temperature settings to be easily seen even in the evening light. Masport barbecues feature side-burners, rotisserie units, double skinned hoods, enamel coated cast iron cookware, alarmed timers and they all come with barbecue covers as standard.

Masport gas barbecues are certified safe and reliable by the Australian Gas Association and the slide-out gas bottle storage (Ambassador Deluxe 210 only) provides convenient and easy access to the gas cylinder.

Masport barbecues are available from all major barbecue sales and service specialists and Harvey Norman stores Australia wide. For more information on stockists visit www.masport.com.au or call 1300 366 225.

304 Stainless Steel vs. 430 Stainless Steel
Almost ten years ago, a huge worldwide demand for stainless steel created significant cost increases. The largest price increases were on nickel and chromium, two very important chemical elements in corrosion resistance. By reducing the levels of chromium and removing nickel completely, a low cost alternative was introduced by producing barbecues made from 430 grade stainless steel. While the 430 grade introduced a bright, good looking stainless steel, the downside was the significantly reduced resistance to corrosion and, after a relatively short period of time, the 430 grade ‘rusts’. 304 stainless steel contains higher levels of nickel and chromium than the more common and lower cost 430 grade, making it more resistant to corrosion and better equipped to handle outdoor use.
