Acer launches latest virtual experience for its Aspire S3

Sydney, Australia- 6 December 2011 - The latest in experiential marketing from Acer for its Aspire S3 Ultrabook has taken over six shopping malls across Sydney and Melbourne. Designed for total interaction with customers, the Acer zone has been set-up for consumers to see, touch and feel the Aspire S3 using new technology as its show stopper.
A first for Australia, Acer has brought to life a virtual person that takes the form of a sales person named ‘Alicia Aspire’.
David Sunton, General Manager – Marketing, Acer, said “The core function for our virtual sales person is to step outside the box. Just like the Acer Ultrabook, Alicia Aspire breaks the barriers of technology. She can also be viewed from all angles and is positioned front centre to create maximum stopping power from shoppers.”
The innovative technology uses a short-throw projector to throw an image onto an acrylic cutout. Sound is generated by using a surface speaker that is transmitted as though the voice is actually coming directly from the projected sales person.
“This type of technology will allow us to make an impact with consumers. The projected display is eye-catching and has never been seen before in Australia. What we’re trying to do is use technology as a means of reaching out to our customers but also has that personal touch. It is a great way for us to engage with our customers.” Mr Sunton said.
