Big Dreams, A Big Win, and a Big Day Out!

Announcement posted by Push PR 27 Jan 2012

Melbourne, Australia, January 20, 2012: Many young musicians share the dream of someday taking to the stage and connecting with a live audience.

Well, thanks to the MySchoolAct competition, powered by Motorola, the spotlight is turning to some very lucky Aussie students who won the once in a lifetime opportunity to perform at this year’s Big Day Out!

Lets Not Pretend are the band that took out the Victorian title, and will be supporting the likes of Soundgarden, Kanye West, My Chemical Romance and Foster the People. Daniel Juric, the band’s vocalist, still recalls that defining moment like it was yesterday...

We can still vividly remember that Sunday evening of the MySchoolAct BDO announcement. Our eyes were glued to the computer screen, hearts pounding anxiously awaiting the announcement - then we saw the name Lets Not Pretend on the screen – wow! This was the ultimate feeling… It’s every band’s dream.”

Like Lets Not Pretend, four other high school acts have will be performing at BDO. Thanks to Motorola, each band is set to take to the stage in their home states across Australia.

“The Big Day Out is one of the premier musical events in Australia, and as such it’s a huge opportunity for the band to reach a greater audience. With an event that has the ability to attract such a large number of people it is vital that we showcase our talents and make a lasting impression,” Daniel says. “And thanks to Motorola, we have an awesome phone to record our BDO experience!”

The MySchoolAct competition is all about supporting young Aussie talent through utilising the very best tools the online world has to offer – so it comes as no surprise that Motorola, who pride themselves in delivering innovative products to young music lovers everywhere, were proud to support this fantastic initiative.

What’s more, the Activation at each Australian event will include the biggest waterslide BDO has ever seen, with a 12 metre climb to the Slide’s crows nest and a 55 metre runway! There will also be demonstrations of the new Motorola DEFY+™ handset from qualified Motorola staff. Motorola DEFY+™ has been designed for the biggest days out with water resistant, scratch and dust proof qualities.

Amazing new talent, the epic Motoslide for all to enjoy, and demonstrations of one of the coolest gadgets on the market?

Now that’s big news for the Big Day Out 2012!
