Announcement posted by MailGuard Pty Ltd 17 Feb 2012
MailGuard is offering contract and pricing stability following WebRoot’s announcement that it is shutting down its email security service, leaving clients and partners in doubt about their future.
After weeks of speculation and uncertainty, security firm WebRoot stopped accepting clients and finally confirmed that its cloud-based email security service will be turned off as of July 2012.
WebRoot partners were shocked to receive an email before Christmas, advising that the service would be discontinued in December 2013. In recent weeks, partners were phoned and advised that the service would be discontinued 18 months earlier than previously stated.
WebRoot is scaling back its cloud-based solutions even further, confusing the market by selling its archiving business and only continuing a web security service for high-end customers.
To date, WebRoot has offered no alternatives, and has not recommended any other solutions to customers or partners. Clients with many months remaining on their contract will not be serviced past the July deadline.
A number of vendors are attempting to step into the gap left by WebRoot, marketing themselves as a more reliable email security option.
MailGuard – a dedicated and trusted cloud provider who lead the industry in security and support – are proving an attractive alternative to customers and partners. CEO Craig McDonald outlines MailGuard’s offering.
“MailGuard are bringing stability back. With no transition fees and matching WebRoot’s pricing, forecasts don’t need to be recalculated and budgets don’t need to be increased. We are matching WebRoot’s terms, and offer same day activation on request. Our offer is open to all WebRoot clients and partners. Businesses gain the advantages of a dedicated cloud security specialist and a seamless transition.”
“MailGuard has been an innovator in the cloud security market for over 11 years now, and we have no intention of going away. We are confident our service goes above and beyond that previously offered by WebRoot,” said McDonald.
