Announcement posted by Numac Drilling Services Australia 29 Feb 2012

Numac is proud to be the principal sponsorof the Eco-Forum Conference and leads the way with it's own environmentally friendly products.
Numac is proud to be the principal sponsor of the Eco-Forum Conference and Exhibition March 7-9th in Sydney at Australia's Technology Park.“Numac is excited to be a part of this important event as it brings together the leaders of our industries to focus on creating new innovative solutions to environmental problems, forge new partnerships and share best practices. We are very passionate about our people being part of these discussions and sharing our knowledge.” tells CEO of Numac Ross Raymond.
Numac is sponsoring the Ecoforum Dinner and will be involved in the forums which include the following topics:
- Land and groundwater remediation
- EcoWaste
- Mine water management
- Water in perspective
- Climate change response
- Sustainability in the Asian century
- Sustainable engineering
- Sustainable cities
- EcoCommunication
“We have a strong focus on the environmental and social sustainability of our business, we work with environmental and geotechnical consulting firms across the eastern seaboard of Australia and strive to be a leading example to the industries in which we work, providing drilling,site divestment and remediation services.” Raymond explains.
This is an important event for Numac as they launch new environmentally friendly products.
“We are proud to be the first in Australia to provide the BioLiner, a plastic liner that will biodegrade when discarded into landfill. This is good news as:
• Future generations won’t have to endure our plastic waste.
• Numac’s plastic waste when disposed to landfill will now start to provide enough renewable energy to power 5 average houses per year.
• The liners are the same as normal PVC disposable liners, but are augmented with an additive, Ecopure which allows natural bacteria in a landfill to break down the material.
• 7Eleven will trial the Bio Liner on all its projects in 2012.”
As well as the Bio Liner product, Numac are amongst the first to introduce MIP or Membrane Interface Probe, a subsurface sampling tool providing high resolution vertical profiling for site assessment & remediation.
Ross explains some key benefits of MIP are;
Live time mapping of contaminated sites – the twitter of soil sampling.
More sample frequencies = more data = better planning and remediation outcomes.
All of which provide enormous cost savings and reduced project timelines
Numac has developed its ISCO/ISCR technology(insitu chemical oxidation/insitu chemical reduction), designed with safety first, the mobile unit is a fully automated blending and injection system for the remediation of contaminated soil and water.
“This now provides Numac customers with a true end to end service provider and solution for the assessment and remediation of contaminated sites. By combining Drilling, Subsurface Sampling, Site Divestment & Remediation capability Numac customers can be confident that they have a smart contractor on their team” explains Raymond.
Key benefits of ISCO/ISCR technology are;
• Little or no excavation, transport & disposal costs;
• Little or no disruption to operational businesses;
• And a big reduction is soil disposal to landfill.
Numac recognizes the impact that our business has on the environment and the need to adopt both products and practices that are more socially and environmentally sustainable.

CEO of Numac
Ross Raymond is the CEO of Numac, a privately owned specialist provider of drilling, site divestment and remediation services to environmental and geotechnical consulting firms across Australia.
Ross joined Numac in 2011, with more than 25 years’ experience providing specialist contracting services, initially to the extractive and recycling industries before moving into construction, site divestment and remediation services to the petrochemical and related industry markets.
His experience commenced in the family business managing their soil processing and crushing operation where Ross gained valuable knowledge processing various raw and recycled materials such as basalt, granite, soil blending and screening, recycled asphalt and concrete. The family’s entrepreneurial spirit identified an opportunity in the Petrochemical industry where they started Austech Petroleum Services providing design & installation of product storage and handling systems, tank & line integrity testing, pollution control and product recovery systems, site divestment and remediation. In 2004 Austech merged with a JFT to form JFTA Pty Ltd and in 2007 acquired the Treloar Fluid Handling, establishing the group as a multi-disciplined provider of design, engineering, construction, maintenance, decommissioning and remediation of hazardous facilities to the mining, petrochemical and manufacturing industries.
Ross has studied at Monash & Swinburne Universities under the Executive Management & Environmental Certificate, is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors having completed the Company Directors Course, a member of The Executive Connection, Australian Industry Group and Australian Land and Ground Water Association.
