To wrap‐up Arthritis Awareness Week (Sunday 25 March – Saturday 31 March) with a bang, Arthritis NSW is encouraging Sydney‐siders to make a Splash for Arthritis and participate in an Aqua Zumba® fiesta – the biggest class ever seen in Sydney!
Taking place at Macquarie University Sport andAquatic Centre on Saturday 31 March, theinaugural event aims to help Arthritis NSW raisemuch needed funding for services, support,education and research into the causes andtreatment of arthritis and other musculoskeletalconditions.
Hosted by Maria Teresa Stone, an internationalZumba educator and ‘master trainer’ who helpedlaunch the program in New Zealand and Australia,
the aqua Zumba fiesta promises to be a day ofsplashing, stretching, twisting, shouting, laughing,hooting and hollering.
According to Arthritis NSW Chief Executive, Karen Filocamo, Splash for Arthritis is an exciting way to end ArthritisAwareness Week 2012.
“Water exercise is one of the most comfortable and effective ways for people with arthritis to exercise, making thisevent the ideal way to conclude Arthritis Awareness Week. We anticipate the Aqua Zumba class will be a hit witheveryone, as it blends traditional Zumba with aqua fitness, creating a safe, challenging workout that is cardioconditioning,bodytoning and most of all exhilarating beyond belief!” said Ms Filocamo.
Arthritis affects 3.1 million Australians, that’s one in five people including, children, adolescents, working adultsand seniors.
