Oracle and Nokia to bring collaboration capabilities to the enterprise mobile workforce



- World's Leading Mobility and Enterprise Software Vendors Announce Strategic Relationship to Offer Integrated Mobility Applications to the Enterprise -

Oracle Corp. (Oracle Corp. (NASDQ: ORCL),the world's largest enterprise software company, and Nokia (NYSE:NOK), theglobal leader in mobility, today announced a joint initiative to deliverOracle Collaboration Suite on Nokia mobile handsets, signalling thecompanies' intention to deliver integrated mobility solutions toenterprise workforces.
Oracle and Nokia intend to develop this unique mobile solution forenterprise voicemail, email, calendaring, file management and searchcapabilities to provide mobile workers with one source for integrated andconsistent communication across multiple mobile devices and platforms.Program roll out is scheduled to initiate in Western Europe with plans toextend the agreement to the Americas and Asia Pacific. Customer pilots areplanned for second quarter of 2003, beginning in the UK.

Global development teams from both corporations are leveraging synergiesbetween Oracle Collaboration Suite and Nokia's advanced range of mobilehandsets optimised for business use. The Nokia 6800, as well as theSymbian-based Nokia 3650, Nokia 7650 and Nokia 9200 series handsets, usingOracle Collaboration Suite Release 1, offer uniquely integrated e-mail,calendaring and contact management capabilities to the mobile workforce.Oracle Collaboration Suite Release 2, which extends real-time capabilitiesto the joint offering, is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of2003.

Independent market research company iGillottResearch examined the benefitsassociated with mobile collaboration applications and found that mobileaccess to e-mail and personal information management saves between fiveand six hours per mobile employee per week, while an average pay backperiod for investment in mobile applications is a very rapid four-to-sixmonths. iGillottResearch believes that any corporate IT department wouldbe ill advised to implement any new enterprise IT solutions without firstconsidering the implications of wireless technology on that application orenvironment. Global competition, and the ability to move information,content, and documents around an organisation today depend on mobilitysolutions.
