Zendesk signs 1,000th Australian customer

Announcement posted by Bench PR 12 Apr 2012

250 customers in New Zealand signed up during the same period

MELBOURNE – 12 April 2012 - Zendesk, the proven cloud-based help desk software company, announced today it has signed its 1000th Australian customer after opening its Melbourne office in September 2011.

McLaren's Young International of Melbourne was the 1000th customer to sign up, followed closely by Brisbane based Appointuit, with the number of Australians submitting tickets to Zendesk customers now at 1.4 million.

“We are very happy to welcome both McLaren's Young International and Appointuit to the Zendesk family,” said Michael Hansen, Zendesk’s vice president and Asia Pacific managing director. “Working with 1000 companies is the culmination of a big milestone for us, but the number of customers in the region is continuing to grow daily.”

The company, which also provides customer service software to a number of Australian companies, including LJ Hooker, Servcorp and News Limited, has also signed more than 250 customers in New Zealand during the same period.

As well as this, executive start-up mentors Startmate; start-up accelerator AngelCube; Sydney-based incubator Fishburners, and both Agents of Change and the ICEHOUSE in New Zealand, all have agreements with Zendesk.

“As part of our pledge to our start-up customers, we are currently offering Zendesk for free to this group for one year,” Hansen said.

“With Zendesk beginning as a start-up back in 2007 and growing into the successful business that it is today, we want to do our bit to give back to the start-up community.”

The Zendesk team has also recently added seven more employees to its Melbourne office, with an additional seven joining the rest of the Asia Pacific region; including one in New Zealand.

The announcement follows a number of milestones for Zendesk in its first eight months in Australia, with the company launching its Customer Satisfaction Index, which measures customer satisfaction across 65 million customers in 137 countries. New Zealand and Australia came out on top, scoring 95% and 93% respectively.

"Businesses in Australia and New Zealand process about 6000 queries per day through Zendesk, and we are very pleased to see them at the top of the table for customer satisfaction," Hansen said.

"More and more organisations in the region are recognising just how important providing a good customer service can be in not only attracting new customers but retaining existing ones.”
