Silver Screen Icon Marilyn Monroe™ Shines On Perth Mint Silver coin



As the 50th anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s untimely passing approaches, The Perth Mint has today released a special commemorative coin to celebrate her unbridled life and incredible career.

An American actress, singer and model who graced the screen with her luminous beauty, Marilyn Monroe was considered the epitome of the blond bombshell.

Struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality, the Marilyn Monroe coin depicts a photographic image of the actress set against a background of film with stars. The design also includes a representation of Marilyn’s signature and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Perth Mint Sales and Marketing Director, Ron Currie, said that the goddess of the silver screen still remains in the hearts of many admirers. “Our Marilyn Monroe tribute recognises the impact the legendary icon had on devotees and people around the world”.

Her early film appearances were minor but well received. By 1953, Monroe had progressed to the leading roles in many popular films of her time, with her talent hailed by critics. During her career, Marilyn received a prestigious BAFTA award and a Golden Globe.
