ACT’s Biggest Road Project Ever
Civil construction firms operating in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory will soon have the opportunity to bid for work on the largest road construction project ever in the ACT.
Jointly funded by the federal and state governments, the $288 million Majura Parkway project, representing an 11.5 kilometre dual carriageway linking the Federal and Monaco Highway, will be the largest road construction project ever undertaken in the history of the territory.
ACT Chief Minister and Minister for Territory and Municipal Services Katy Gallagher says that once complete in 2016, the new project will make it significantly easier for Canberra residents to get around the city.
Fraser Federal Member Andrew Leigh agrees, saying the Parkway will provide an important north-south transport link.
“This will play a significant role in improving the main national and regional freight route, and the ACT will also benefit from additional capacity in its road network,” Leigh says....
