NEC launches locally-hosted Cloud Telephony Solution
Helping Australian small businesses transition to secure and reliable voice services in the cloud
Melbourne – 29 May 2012 – NEC Australia, a leading communications systems integrator today announced the launch of NEC Cloud Telephony for Business, a scalable and secure cloud-delivered Private Branch Exchange (PBX) and Unified Communications (UC) platform, designed specifically for Australian small and medium sized businesses.
NEC Cloud Telephony can be rapidly scaled from four extensions, up to 200 plus extensions at single or multiple sites, allowing businesses to support future growth without additional infrastructure and integration costs.
Delivered over broadband, NEC Cloud Telephony is available as a bundled service on a single monthly bill and removes the need to invest in on-site PBX and PSTN services, eliminating both the associated cost and technical risk of maintaining hardware while retaining the full suite of PBX features.
The platform also extends the reach of the office PBX to home and mobile workers by leveraging the ubiquitous internet and availability of compatible softphone clients for devices such as laptops, smartphones and tablets.
NEC Cloud Telephony brings enterprise-grade Unified Communications features to small businesses through the Cloud Communicator client, including softphone, click to call, presence and instant messaging. It also supports Outlook contact integration and fax to email.
The platform is a fully functional multi-tenant solution and provides a secure role-based web management interface, allowing system administrators to perform companywide changes and end-users to manage their call handling.
Available through the NEC channel/dealer network, NEC Cloud Telephony has built in redundancy with automated fail-over, plus in the event of a loss of customer site network connectivity, Cloud Telephony can be configured to divert calls to other destinations including mobile devices.
NEC has invested heavily in developing a secure resilient infrastructure that is hosted, maintained and managed within Australia. The service is also backed by 24 x 7 support through NEC Australia’s local network operations centre based in Melbourne.
“For years, Australia’s small and medium businesses have trusted NEC products to meet their business communications requirements. With our new Cloud Telephony solution, NEC Australia will continue to build on this strong association and provide customers with a migration path to Cloud Communication services provided by a trusted partner,” said Paul Woosnam, Senior Manager of Emerging Technology, NEC Australia.
“Cloud Telephony gives our partners and customers an alternative offering to the traditional on-premise solution and brings them the benefits of Cloud Services including reduction in capital spending and technology risk, increased business agility, and the ability to consume services as required.”
