Barossa Artist Jacqueline Coates Invites Guests to Experience the Texture of an Artist's Life

Acclaimed artist Jacqueline Coates has re-imagined her former home and studio into 'A Barn in the Barossa’. This is chic B&B accommodation with an artistic flavour and style located in the historic town of Kapunda, in the Barossa’s western ranges.

Originally living a fast paced life in Sydney, Jacqueline took a daring plunge into the unknown and moved her young family to rural South Australia.

The artist found this historic, hand hewn bluestone barn that had been built in 1890 and restored it to house her family and fledgling art space.

She says, “I was gobsmacked by the beauty of the landscape here, with rolling hills reflecting the changing seasons, the hay bales and cropping fields – it looks just like Tuscany! Then I couldn’t believe my eyes when I stumbled across this amazing old barn waiting to be restored for me to create in.”

“This building has been my home and the source of my inspiration for the past ten years and I know anyone who stays here will revel in it too!” says Jacqueline.

Guests can book a private painting tutorial with Jac, even if they have never picked up a brush. Jac says, “Anyone can be an artist. Come and experience a day or full day painting class with me and I’ll prove it.”

The Barn has it all - a lively art collection, a fully stocked country kitchen, large living area, two spacious bedrooms and a bathroom boasting a massive claw foot tub. A rambling Mediterranean dry cottage garden completes the idyllic scene. Can sleep up to 6.

Close to some of the best wine and food in Australia, Kapunda is a picturesque town with beautiful walks, an Artist Studio Trail and a wealth of heritage architecture. Of course A Barn in the Barossa is laden with beautiful Barossa wine and fresh provisions from the Barossa Farmers Market and local providores.
