Amnesia Razorfish releases source code used in TEDx video data art project

Today, Amnesia Razorfish announced the release of its source code used to create ‘The Importance of Kinection’, a new video data art project unveiled to the audience at TEDx Sydney.

TEDx organisers handpicked Amnesia Razorfish to provide one of the showcase entertainment pieces at the conference. The brief was to inspire attendees with innovation at the forefront.

Amnesia Razorfish’s creative director, Jay Morgan, said: “We based this project on the creative insight that, while people know TED for offering inspiring seminars and guest speakers, they often overlook the importance of connecting with people outside of the auditorium.”

While other agencies displayed traditional video pieces, ‘The Importance of Kinection’ used 3D tracking technology to create a live demonstration marrying point cloud data with audience interactions.3D cameras captured TEDx guests in the foyer and overflow area, then in real-time, visualised the millions of potential physical connections between attendees on the day.

The agency invites other visual artists, developers or anyone who’s simply curious to re-use, remix and release their own interpretations of the project under creative commons license, by downloading the code at this link :http://www.openprocessing.org/sketch/63288.

Amnesia Razorfish has plans to install the real time experience in a contemporary art space in Sydney for public viewing.
