CA's Unicenter WSDM delivers state of the art management of .NET Web services with new plug-in technology
Announcement posted by CA (enterprise) 31 Oct 2003
Microsoft MOM customers gain visibility into Web services to ensure reliability and control of critical business processes
Computer Associates International (CA) today announced it will provide administrators of Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) 2000 with visibility into the health and status of enterprise Web services, enabling them to track and manage business processes across .NET environments.
The new integration capabilities, to be provided in the Unicenter Web Services Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager, are a significant advance in the management of enterprise Web services.
"Today's heterogeneous Web services environments require advanced management capabilities to support business functions that span multiple enterprises," said David Hamilton, director of the Enterprise Management Division at Microsoft Corp. "Microsoft is pleased to announce we are working closely with CA, a leader in specialised Web services management, to ensure inclusion of functionality in Microsoft Operations Manager 2000 through integrated Management Packs, delivering our mutual customers best-of-breed management for heterogeneous environments."
Unicenter WSDM delivers complete business-level and IT-level management of .NET Web services environments, including real-time alerts and proactive management tools. Microsoft Operations Manager provides event and performance management for Windows Servers and .NET environments.
By linking Unicenter WSDM's capabilities to MOM, the new CA management pack delivers state-of-the-art management of. NET-enabled business systems - enabling Microsoft customers to instantly detect any problems that could threaten performance or availability of critical services. This management is essential for maximising the business value that organisations realise from Web services technology.
"CA is aggressively addressing our customers' requirements for ensuring the effective implementation and ongoing management of Web services," said Dmitri Tcherevik, director of Web services at CA. "By delivering integration between Unicenter WSDM and MOM, we are enabling IT managers to optimise performance and minimise costs by taking control of the .NET Web services they deploy."
CA has already delivered integration between MOM and Unicenter NSM, enabling Unicenter NSM to act as a heterogeneous "manager of managers," receiving alerts and management data from MOM and other management resources across the enterprise. Unicenter WSDM is scheduled for general release in Q4 '03; the Unicenter Web Services Management Pack for Microsoft Operations Manager is scheduled to ship in the following quarter.
