Tecala Group First to Provide Pre-Packaged VSPEX Solution for Australian Business IT Environment Transformation

Tecala Group, the Sydney-based ICT consulting and solutions provider, is the first company in Australia to partner with EMC and offer organisations a pre-packaged virtualised IT environment based on EMC VSPEX core infrastructure complete with professional consulting services support.
EMC VSPEX is a proven, flexible architecture solution that allows IT departments to quickly and consistently deploy a virtualised infrastructure to consolidate servers, applications and desktops while helping to reduce capital and operational expenses. It is built on highly advanced, flexible and efficient EMC unified storage and next-generation backup architecture providing for simple management, and improved IT efficiency.
Tecala has customised its own VSPEX offering by partnering with Cisco and VMware to complete its capacity to offer virtualised IT thereby eliminating any risk of vendor incompatibilities.

First Customer Deployment Live on VSPEX
Tecala has already seen success for its VSPEX offering at the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
“Initially, we didn't consider that a solution of the calibre of EMC, Cisco and VMware could be affordable. What we found though was that it was competitively priced. All three are brands that we know and have confidence in, and as an organisation we like to deal with tier one vendors wherever possible,” said Luke Pannekoek, IS Manager, Seventh Day Adventist Church.
“From an architectural perspective, Tecala's recommended solution took us ahead in leaps and bounds. We've added more virtual machines per server, growing from 80 to 110 and storage has at least doubled. There's been a significant shift in capacity due to our move from the old stack to the new, converged infrastructure solution. The use of 10 Gigabit Ethernet has improved our networking throughput and, where we used to have a lot of one Gigabit cables everywhere, we can now use a single ten Gigabit cable,” Pannekoek explains.
When it comes to disaster recovery, the changes at Seventh Day Adventist Church have been similarly dramatic.
“What we do now is replicate data between systems using a solution to make sure both EMC SANs are in sync. This parallel operation ensures that should anything occur to interrupt the production SAN, work can switch over to the recovery SAN within moments,” says Pannekoek.
Ultimately, VSPEX was able to bring 2,500 users and 20 sites throughout the Pacific Islands, Australia and New Zealand online in a fraction of the time it took before.
