Budgeting Coaches Move In On The Gold Coast

Announcement posted by MyBudget 26 Jul 2012

Cost of living pressures on the Gold Coast are forcing many people to turn to personal trainers to fix their finances.

Queenslanders are among many Australians living beyond their means, experiencing not only mortgage stress but an obsession with credit cards due to a lack of money education.

Australia’s leading personal budgeting company MyBudget has moved to open its first office on the Gold Coast due to increasing demand for financial coaching.

MyBudget Founder and Director Tammy May said the expansion into the Gold Coast is to provide greater assistance to the enquiries from residents each week who are seeking to take control of their finances.

“The harsh reality is many people including high income earners have no savings and are struggling to pay their bills including bad debt on credit cards and personal loans,” Ms May said.

“We are talking about people across the board from renters to home owners, singles, couples and families,” she said.

“They are living week to week and don’t know how to break this cycle.”

Nerang resident Todd Rigby who is married to wife Mel and has three stepsons including twin boys aged seven said becoming a MyBudget client has taken the stress and worry away about money.

“We were down to our last $8 and knew something had to change quickly for us to survive financially. We used this money to put some petrol in the car and drove from Nerang to MyBudget’s office at Mount Gravatt which was a life changing decision,” Mr Rigby said.

“With a mortgage, car loans and debts on credit cards we would have nothing today if we didn’t seek help nine months ago.”

Client numbers have increased by 37 per cent each year since the company brought the business to Queensland in 2010 and on average My Budget is employing 1.4 new staff members per week to cope with the demand for its service.

“We are essentially personal trainers for your finance and help clients to take control of their incomes, pay their bills, talk to creditors and develop a new long-term budgeting plan,” Ms May said.

The company’s Gold Coast office is located on Corporate Court at Bundall and will open on Wednesday, 18 June. It’s MyBudget’s fourth Queensland office with locations also in Brisbane’s CBD, Mount Gravatt and Chermside.

MyBudget, listed at number 41 on the BRW Fast 100 2011 is Australia’s premier personal budgeting company, which assists more than 20,000 clients by managing their finances, teaching them to break bad financial habits, achieve their financial goals, reduce debts and save money. MyBudget has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Adelaide.
