NEC Australia appoints three new executives in local push

MELBOURNE – 7 August 2012 – NEC Australia, a leading ICT solutions and services company, today announced the appointments of Steve Blunt as executive general manager of unified communications solutions, Andy Hurt as the executive general manager of channel (display solutions and unified communications channels) and D’Wayne Mitchell as the executive general manager of shared services infrastructure.

Steve Blunt will lead the unified communications business covering ICT outsourcing, NECare - NEC’s multi-vendor maintenance and support services business, contact centre and data networking products. In this role, Steve is responsible for driving growth and maximising profitability, directing the organisation to become the leading ICT services provider of choice, helping customers gain business value from their communications investments.

Steve comes to NEC having worked in the ICT industry across three continents. He has held senior Australian roles leading software channels at IBM and Lotus and was regional director for Cisco services in Australia and New Zealand. Following this, Steve was the managing director of global strategy and operations for Cisco services where he led global field operations for Cisco’s $7bn services organisation based in San Jose, California.

As the executive general manager for channel, Andy Hurt will direct NEC's partner strategy across the country, responsible for strengthening current partnerships and creating new ones to increase the company's footprint in the market.

Andy brings 25 years industry experience to NEC Australia. In that time Andy worked at Honeywell, 3Com and Avaya holding senior management roles in operations, sales and marketing.

For the past eight years Andy has worked for Avaya Australia & New Zealand where his most recent position was director of operations. Prior to that he held  a range of roles with Avaya including sales director, acting country managing director, director of channels and marketing director as well as having been the marketing manager for small and medium business systems for Asia Pacific.

D’Wayne Mitchell has joined NEC Australia as the executive general manager of shared services infrastructure. In this role, D’Wayne will lead the National Operations Centre, Technical Assistance Centres, NECare field service organisation, and NEC’s only non-Japan based research and development team based in Melbourne.

Previously, D’Wayne worked at CSC where he was part of the Australian senior leadership group. He also had assignments in New York and London managing service desk and call centre operations and critical service management functions, as well as offshore centre management. His earlier career was with Rio Tinto’s technology infrastructure team.
